2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 Review

Genesis has updated its Electrified GV70 for 2025 as the Korean luxury brand transitions to an all-electric lineup in the UK market. The changes come at a critical time for Genesis, which is positioning itself against established German rivals like Audi and BMW.

The brand launched in the UK four years ago with ambitious plans to challenge premium market leaders. Its first electric vehicle, the Electrified GV70, arrived three years later as Genesis worked to establish itself among buyers looking for alternatives to traditional luxury badges.

Genesis is now exclusively electric in the UK after discontinuing petrol and diesel engines.

Exterior and Interior Updates

The 2025 model receives typical mid-cycle refresh treatments. New micro-array LED headlights maintain the split-level design while offering improved adaptive performance. The front bumper has been resculpted for a smoother appearance, and the grille receives subtle refinements.

Additional exterior updates include new 19-inch and 20-inch wheel options and expanded paint choices.

The charging port now features power operation, illumination, and heating – addressing a previous owner complaint. Rear turn signals have been integrated into the tail lights instead of sitting low in the bumper.

Interior changes prove more significant. A new 27-inch “connected car integrated cockpit” replaces the previous dual 12.3-inch screen setup. The single flowing display incorporates redesigned digital gauges and updated infotainment software.

The center console has been redesigned with smaller drive selector and rotary controls. A new touch-sensitive panel manages climate functions while retaining physical temperature dials. The steering wheel features updated black buttons and a relocated Boost button.

Luxury trim models get special “Milky Way” illuminated door trim along with enhanced ambient lighting and extended soft-touch materials throughout the cabin.

The cabin maintains high build quality with comfortable, adjustable leather seats that offer massage functions. Active noise cancellation is available, and the space accommodates four adults comfortably.

The updated infotainment system runs faster than before and supports streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix when parked. Google Maps and Apple Maps can now display in the instrument cluster, and the remote parking feature handles more complex scenarios.

Powertrain and Performance

The twin-motor all-wheel-drive system continues producing 483 horsepower but now pairs with a larger 84kWh battery pack. Range increases to 298 miles – up 15 miles from the previous model.

Charging capability remains at 240kW, enabling 10-80% charging in 19 minutes. A new battery thermal management system allows manual preconditioning for optimal charging performance.

Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 4.4 seconds despite the vehicle’s 2.3-tonne weight. The Boost button delivers immediate torque for quick overtaking. Optional virtual gear shifts and simulated engine sounds are now available, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N system.

The active air suspension offers comfort and sport modes. Sport mode stiffens the setup and adds steering weight for spirited driving, though body roll and weight remain noticeable in corners.

Comfort mode showcases the vehicle’s strengths – the road-scanning suspension smooths most surface imperfections while maintaining access to instant electric power delivery.

The vehicle delivers luxury comfort with surprising performance capability while offering genuine alternatives to established European premium brands. Genesis continues building its case as a credible challenger in the luxury electric SUV segment.
