Volkswagen has announced pricing for most of its 2025 ID.4 electric SUV lineup, with deliveries expected to begin in February. The automaker is holding back pricing details for base models while promising additional features mid-year.

The 82-kWh battery versions of the 2025 ID.4 will start at $46,520 for rear-wheel drive models and $50,420 for all-wheel drive variants, including destination charges. That’s a modest $220 increase over comparable 2024 models.

VW’s electric SUV continues to offer an impressive suite of standard features. The Pro trim includes heated seats, mirrors, and washer nozzles, while all-wheel drive versions add a heated windshield. Dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and 45-watt USB-C charging come standard across the range.

Stepping up to the Pro S adds several luxury touches — adaptive front lighting, ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, and 20-inch wheels for $51,620 in RWD form. The AWD Pro S starts at $55,520.

The range-topping S Plus, available only with all-wheel drive, commands $58,720. It brings premium amenities like 14-speaker audio, heated rear seats, and an overhead camera system.

VW hasn’t yet revealed pricing for the entry-level 62-kWh battery versions. These models carried a $41,160 starting price for 2024 and were offered exclusively with rear-wheel drive.

The 2025 ID.4’s most significant upgrade is its new 12.9-inch infotainment system. The revamped interface addresses many early complaints with improved processing power, dedicated shortcut buttons, and persistent climate controls. Backlit haptic sliders now respond more quickly to inputs.

Tesla Supercharger access is coming to the ID.4 through a NACS adapter in mid-2024. VW’s promise of “additional content” arriving around the same time raises questions about whether these announcements are connected.

The automaker has integrated ChatGPT into the ID.4’s voice assistant system. While VW emphasizes that no vehicle data is shared with ChatGPT or integration partner Cerence, early demonstrations haven’t shown significant advantages over existing voice assistants.

Performance sees a notable boost for 2025. Most models now feature a more powerful rear motor producing 282 hp in RWD form and 335 hp with all-wheel drive. EPA range ratings have improved to 291 miles for RWD and 263 miles for AWD variants with the larger battery.

The ID.4 faced challenges in 2024, including a major recall affecting nearly 100,000 vehicles due to faulty door handles. While deliveries have resumed, VW dealers still have many 2024 models to clear out — potentially creating opportunities for buyers as the automaker works to regain momentum in the competitive electric SUV segment.

The 2025 model’s eligibility for the $7,500 federal tax credit remains uncertain. With potential policy changes looming, prospective buyers might find attractive deals on remaining 2024 inventory as VW positions its refreshed electric SUV in the market.
