Lexus has introduced its all-new ES saloon with an all-electric drivetrain – a first in the model’s 30-year history.

The Japanese luxury car maker’s executive saloon comes in two electric variants: the all-wheel drive ES 500e delivering 338bhp, and a front-wheel drive ES 350e producing 221bhp.

Built on Lexus’s new K platform, the 2026 ES EV integrates lightweight eAxles and accommodates both battery electric and self-charging hybrid powertrains. Both models feature a 77kWh battery.

The ES 500e accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds, while the ES 350e completes the same sprint in 8.2 seconds.

While official UK consumption figures remain unannounced, Lexus targets a 250-mile range for the ES 500e and 300 miles for the ES 350e on a single charge.

This eighth-generation ES features a complete interior redesign, becoming the first Lexus model with a fully digital driver’s cockpit that integrates multimedia, instrument display, and Lexus Link+ app functions.

Following the Japanese ‘Omontenashi’ hospitality principle, haptic-touch cabin switches hide beneath the dashboard upholstery when the car is off, creating a clean panel appearance. The buttons illuminate when the vehicle starts.

The exterior showcases Lexus’s new “Clean Tech x Elegance” design language with a more angular approach than previous models. Both the ES 500e and ES 350e feature distinctive L-shaped front lights – daytime running lights in the inner section and indicators in the outer portion.

At the rear, L-shaped tail lights connect via a boot-wide lightbar with a central Lexus logo. The overall design presents a lower, flowing aesthetic with a fastback silhouette despite its saloon classification.

The all-electric Lexus ES will reach UK showrooms in spring 2026, though prices and exact launch dates remain unconfirmed. A hybrid version powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine will also join the new ES lineup.
