MG announced new pricing and specifications for its updated MG4 hatchback, which launches in the UK this February with increased power and range starting at £29,995.
The 2026 model year brings significant changes to the lineup structure. MG dropped the previous entry-level variant with its 49kWh battery pack, making the Long Range trim the new starting point.
This represents a £2,750 price reduction compared to the outgoing Long Range model.
The automaker repositioned the MG4 to create market separation from the newly introduced MG4 Urban, which now serves as MG’s most affordable EV offering.
Battery and Range Updates
The base Long Range trim now includes a 64kWh battery pack, delivering up to 280 miles of range on a single charge.
MG priced the Extended Range variant at £32,995. This model features a larger 77kWh battery that provides 338 miles of range.
The performance-oriented MG4 XPOWER returns for 2026 at £33,995, maintaining its 429 horsepower output and all-wheel-drive system.
Interior Technology Improvements
MG confirmed the updated model receives interior technology upgrades, though the company hasn’t released complete specifications yet.
The redesigned cabin reportedly includes a more functional center console and additional physical controls. New driver information and infotainment displays replace the previous system.
Industry sources suggest the 2026 MG4 will use the same 12.8-inch infotainment screen found in the MG HS6 SUV – a significant improvement over the current model’s system, which received criticism from reviewers.
MG also emphasized quality improvements throughout the vehicle.
“Since its launch in 2022 the MG4 EV has been one of the UK’s most popular and admired electric cars [and has] helped make EV ownership possible for the many rather than the few,” said David Allison, MG UK’s director of product and planning.
“Now the 2026 MG4 EV offers a major technology and quality upgrade to the interior, and a sharp focus on excellent all-electric driving range. And in the case of the Dual Motor XPOWER, some scintillating performance.”
The MG4 competes directly with the Volkswagen ID.3 in the compact EV hatchback segment. The updated pricing strategy positions MG’s offering more competitively while improving the value proposition through enhanced range and technology features.
Sales begin in February across MG’s UK dealer network.
