Vauxhall is making electric cars more affordable by pricing its updated Astra Electric the same as hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The family hatchback follows the Frontera in offering price parity across different powertrains.

The automaker also announced no price difference between hatchback and estate body styles.

Prices for the new Astra Electric start at £29,995 – dropping £5,000 from the previous entry-level EV. Top trims reach £33,995.

Better Battery and Range

The 2026 Astra Electric gets significant upgrades. All versions now pack a 58.3kWh battery delivering up to 281 miles of range.

That’s 22 miles more than before and edges out competitors like the Kia EV4 and Volkswagen ID.3. However, both rivals offer longer-range models with bigger batteries.

New features include vehicle-to-load capability and battery preconditioning – both firsts for the Astra Electric.

Fresh Look Inside and Out

Vauxhall refreshed the exterior with a new Vizor grille featuring an illuminated Griffin badge, similar to the Grandland design.

Interior changes replace gloss black plastic with scratch-resistant satin grey finishes. Physical buttons return for radio, climate control, and drive modes.

The 10-inch infotainment system now includes sat nav and wireless phone mirroring as standard. All variants feature Vauxhall’s Intelli-Seats.

Three Trim Levels

The entry-level Griffin trim starts at £29,995 and undercuts most rivals. It includes:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels (17-inch on PHEV)
  • Tinted rear windows
  • Heated front seats
  • 10-inch infotainment screen
  • Adaptive cruise control

GS trim begins at £31,495 and adds sportier exterior styling, 10-inch digital instruments, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a reversing camera. The driver’s seat earns certification from Germany’s campaign for back health.

The top Ultimate trim features adaptive Intelli-lux LED headlights, head-up display, wireless charging, and advanced driver aids including lane change assist. Both front seats get massage functions and use 100% recycled ReNewKnit faux-Alcantara material.

Estate models include a powered tailgate.

The 2026 Astra will be available in both hatchback and Sports Tourer estate forms when it goes on sale in June. Orders open the same month, with first deliveries starting in July.
