Kia has opened UK order books for the new EV9 GT, bringing more than 500 horsepower and a sub-5-second 0-62mph sprint to the Korean manufacturer’s seven-seat SUV flagship.

The high-performance electric SUV costs from £82,185, with orders opening from June 18. First deliveries are expected this autumn.

Kia positions the EV9 GT as a grand tourer. The company says it blends performance driving with the comfort and range needed for long-distance travel.

Power and Performance

The EV9 GT’s dual-motor setup produces 502 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque – that’s 124hp and 30 lb-ft more than the standard all-wheel-drive model.

Those numbers push this 2.6-tonne, five-meter SUV from standstill to 62mph in 4.6 seconds. That’s faster than a Porsche Cayenne S. Top speed reaches 136mph.

Like the smaller EV6 GT, the EV9 GT features "Virtual Gear Shift" technology. The system uses power mapping to simulate a sequential six-speed transmission, complete with a rev counter and audio feedback.

The upgraded chassis includes an electronic limited-slip differential and adaptive damping. The electronically controlled suspension adjusts stiffness based on six available drive modes – also altering steering and brake feel.

Road-scanning tech pre-loads the suspension for upcoming surface changes like potholes.

Range and Charging

The EV9 GT uses the same 99.8kWh battery as
