Genesis has unveiled its most powerful electric SUV to date with the world debut of the GV60 Magma, a high-performance variant designed to take on luxury sports cars like the Porsche Macan Turbo.
The new Magma represents a shift for Genesis toward what it calls “luxury high performance.” It borrows technology from the track-focused Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, including drift mode and simulated gear changes.
Genesis president Luc Donckerwolke said the model reveals “a new facet of Genesis, one that elevates the brand towards true luxury through performance.”
“Through Magma, we’re injecting adrenaline into the Genesis DNA while preserving the elegance and balance that define true luxury.”
Power and Performance
The GV60 Magma’s dual-motor setup delivers 601 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque in standard driving mode.
Press the orange Boost button on the steering wheel and those figures jump to 641 horsepower and 583 pound-feet – roughly matching the Porsche Macan Turbo’s output.
That power translates to serious acceleration. The electric SUV hits 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaches 124 mph from a standstill in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is 164 mph.
But Genesis says the Magma isn’t just about straight-line speed – it’s engineered for balanced handling and driving dynamics.
Track-Ready Engineering
Engineers have extensively reworked the suspension with new bushings and crossmembers. They’ve also recalibrated the roll center and added electronic control systems that manage end-of-travel suspension movement.
The goal is balancing body control and cornering stability with everyday ride comfort.
Upgraded brakes feature monoblock calipers and larger discs for improved stopping power.
Like the Ioniq 5 N, the GV60 Magma includes a Virtual Gear Shift System that mimics a dual-clutch automatic transmission. It adjusts motor power, torque, and regenerative braking while adding synthesized engine sounds.
A dedicated drift mode reconfigures the traction control and electronic limited-slip differential for rear-biased handling. High-performance battery management ensures consistent power delivery during track sessions.
Aggressive Styling
The Magma sits 20mm lower than the standard GV60 and features flared wheel arches for a broader stance.
Exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels and a redesigned front bumper with a distinctive three-hole structure give it a more aggressive look. The design theme continues with bespoke side skirts.
At the rear, a wing-style spoiler and revised bumper with an integrated diffuser improve aerodynamics.
The striking Magma Orange paint option is complemented by high-gloss black and dark metal trim elements throughout.
Interior Updates
Inside, the seats, door trim, and center console are wrapped in Chamude – a suede-like material with grey and orange stitching.
Orange ambient lighting carries the color theme throughout the cabin. Typically bright switchgear gets the same dark metallic finish used on exterior trim pieces.
The twin 12.3-inch display setup remains but gains exclusive Magma Mode graphics. The instrument cluster shows motor and battery temperatures, speed, and G-force readings in a three-circle layout.
A simplified head-up display provides key information including speed, regenerative braking levels, and remaining boost time.
Availability and Pricing
The GV60 Magma is scheduled to reach UK showrooms in 2026.
Genesis hasn’t announced pricing, but expect a significant premium over the current twin-motor GV60 Performance’s £67,715 starting price.
The Magma launch signals Genesis’s broader push into high-performance electric vehicles as luxury brands compete for enthusiast buyers in the EV space.
