All-Electric Kia PV5 Modular Van Design Revealed Before Launch

All-Electric Kia PV5 Modular Van Design Revealed Before Launch image

Kia will reveal its new electric PV5 van on February 24, marking the first vehicle built on its PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) architecture.

The PV5 launches Kia’s strategy for software-driven electric vans targeting both commercial and personal markets.

Three configurations will be available — including a Cargo Van for freight and a Passenger Van for transport services.

The Passenger variant features extensive glass panels and design elements shared with Kia’s EV9 SUV. Black cladding on the wheel arches and runners connects it visually to Kia’s SUV lineup. The model includes a single lift-up rear door.

For the Cargo version, Kia adapted the futuristic profile into a more practical form. It removes rear seats and windows to maximize loading space. Sliding side doors and split rear doors improve cargo access.

Kia will showcase the complete PV5 lineup and customization options at its EV Day event in Tarragona, Spain.

The move follows Renault’s announcement of three electric vans arriving in 2026:

Trafic E-Tech — The largest of the trio features an extended wheelbase and corner-mounted wheels for maximum interior space. Its 10.42-meter turning circle matches the Renault Clio, while staying under 1.90 meters tall for garage access.

Goelette E-Tech — Reviving a nameplate from 1956-1966, this adaptable van targets fleet and small business customers. Its rear section accommodates various configurations including chassis cab, box, and tipper variants.

Estafette E-Tech — At 5.27 meters long, 1.92 meters wide, and 2.6 meters high, this compact van features a three-piece panoramic windscreen and sliding door with integrated track for tight spaces.

All three Renault models use Flexis’ 800V modular platform. The architecture enables 80% charging in approximately 20 minutes and provides about 280 miles of range.
