Alpine plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup with convertible versions of both the next-generation A110 and a new sports car designed to compete with the Porsche 911, according to industry reports. The French performance brand aims to offer seven electric-only models by 2030.
Renault’s performance division will introduce the next-gen A110 next year as part of this expansion. The complete roster will include the A290 hot hatch, the A390 crossover, and Alpine’s answer to Porsche’s iconic sports car.
New A310 Sports Car Details
The 911 competitor will reportedly carry the A310 designation and share Alpine’s EV-only Alpine Performance Platform (APP) with the A110. Both models will offer coupé and convertible body styles.
Alpine hasn’t confirmed whether its production cars will use in-wheel motors – technology that Renault showcased in its 533bhp, £135,000 Renault 5 Turbo 3E hyperhatch. The system was developed by British firm Protean.
In-wheel motors place electric motors directly inside each wheel, eliminating the need for traditional drivetrains.
Rimac has demonstrated the effectiveness of in-wheel motor technology in its Nevera hypercar. The setup provides drivers with better power delivery control and creates a more precise driving experience. Volkswagen is also reportedly considering in-wheel motors for electric versions of its R performance models.
SUV Expansion Plans
Alpine’s growth strategy includes a large D- or E-segment SUV to complete its seven-model lineup. The smaller variant would compete with vehicles like the Mercedes GLC and BMW iX3. A larger version would challenge the Porsche Cayenne Electric and Volvo EX90.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing details for the upcoming A110 and A310 haven’t been announced. The A290 GT serves as Alpine’s entry point at £32,000 – reduced to £30,500 after the £1,500 electric car grant.
The A390 crossover is currently available for pre-order with a £390 downpayment.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2026.
