Andersen & Tap Electric Partner to Monetize Home EV Charging

Andersen has partnered with Tap Electric to let home charger owners earn money by sharing their charging points with other EV drivers.

The collaboration connects Andersen customers to the Tap Electric app network. EV owners can now list their home chargers and set their own pricing for other drivers to use.

Setting up the service is straightforward. Andersen customers register for a Tap Electric account, list their charger, and choose their rates. Most hosts charge either a flat hourly rate or per-kilowatt hour.

Tap Electric handles all payments and transfers earnings to hosts monthly.

The integration works for both residential and commercial properties. Compatible Andersen models include the latest Quartz and A3 chargers – offering charging speeds up to 22kW and 7kW respectively. The 7kW A2 model also works with the platform.

Expanding Business Opportunities

David Martell, Andersen’s chief executive, sees the partnership as transformative for the company’s customers.

“This partnership with Tap Electric marks an exciting next step for Andersen. By enabling our customers to earn from their charge points, we’re expanding the possibilities of home EV charging, transforming it from a private utility into a smart business opportunity.”

The service opens up new markets for Andersen’s hardware. Martell noted that their chargers become viable for businesses, boutique hotels, and Airbnb properties seeking additional revenue streams.

Tap Electric isn’t breaking new ground here. Peer-to-peer charging networks like Co Charger, Zap-Home, and GoPlugable already offer similar services to EV owners.

The concept addresses two key challenges in EV adoption. It provides income opportunities for charger owners while making charging more accessible for drivers without home installations.

For hosts, there’s also peace of mind knowing their charger generates value when they’re away from home.

The peer-to-peer model reflects the growing sophistication of EV charging infrastructure – moving beyond simple installation toward networked, revenue-generating systems that benefit multiple users.
