BCA reported record used EV sales for the first half of 2025, averaging more than 1,000 cars and vans sold weekly through its auction platform.

The remarketing service has moved more than 26,000 EVs since January. BCA credits its Battery Health Grading system with driving increased buyer confidence in the used electric vehicle market.

The independent assessment tool evaluates battery condition for all EVs listed on BCA’s platform. Buyers receive detailed information about remaining usable charge and overall battery health before making purchase decisions.

Sales Jump 75% After Battery Grading Launch

Used EV sales through BCA’s online auctions increased 75% since the company introduced Battery Health Grading in late 2024.

BCA launched an enhanced EV report certificate in early July. The upgraded system includes health percentage scores and graphical benchmarks comparing each vehicle’s battery against similar models of comparable age and mileage.

The detailed reports break down multiple battery areas – supporting decisions about maintenance schedules, resale values and warranty claims.

Recent health report data shows an average battery score of 94.6% across vehicles averaging 3 years and 2 months old.

BCA hit a new weekly record in late June with 1,300 EV sales. Chief Operating Officer Stuart Pearson expects continued growth as the secondhand EV market develops.

“This year we have continued to see rising volumes of EVs sold in our online auctions and values have become less volatile as demand has risen,” Pearson said.

The steady volume increases and stronger buyer engagement indicate a maturing marketplace within the broader used vehicle sector.

“BCA continues to invest in and refine the remarketing process, particularly in terms of the quality of information we can share with our buyers through our Battery Health Grading and BCA EV Assured reports. This helps build confidence in the process for both sellers and buyers alike.”

The auction house’s data suggests used EV pricing has stabilized compared to the more volatile patterns seen in previous years.
