Be.EV announced a £900,000 investment to build Corby’s first ultra-rapid charging hub at Willow Place Shopping Centre.
The Manchester-based charge point operator will install six ultra-fast chargers at the Northamptonshire location. Each charger delivers speeds up to 300kW and can add 325 miles of range in 20 minutes.
Willow Place is owned by alternative asset management firm Magnetar and operated by Northdale. The shopping centre has over 470 parking spaces and houses more than 150 shops, bars, and restaurants.
The site is one of four Magnetar/Northdale leisure locations to house a Be.EV hub. The others include the Priory Centre in Dartford, Yate Shopping Centre in South Gloucestershire, and One Stop Shopping in Perry Barr.
Be.EV CEO Asif Ghafoor said the investment continues the company’s mission to provide accessible ultra-rapid charging hubs in busy locations across the country.
“Retail destinations like Willow Place are exactly where we need high-quality charging – they’re busy, accessible and already part of people’s everyday lives. By investing nearly £900,000 here, we’re making it easy for EV drivers to plug in while they shop, and supporting Magnetar and Northdale in future-proofing their portfolio for the transition to electric.”
Supporting Local Infrastructure
Willow Place director Daniel Pickard said the partnership marks a significant step for Corby’s charging infrastructure.
“We are pleased to partner with Be.EV on Willow Place, which will deliver the first ultra-rapid bays in Corby. As EV adoption continues to grow in Northamptonshire and beyond, this investment reinforces our commitment to offering essential infrastructure, services, and facilities for visitors and shoppers to Corby town centre and Willow Place.”
The shopping centre recently installed over 200 solar panels – part of its broader environmental commitment that now includes the ultra-rapid charging hub.
Be.EV currently operates 750 live charging bays across the UK and ranks as the country’s fourth top-rated large rapid/ultra-rapid charging network.
The company expects to expand to 1,600 charging bays by the end of this year.
Affordable Charging Options
Be.EV targets drivers who don’t have access to home charging – a growing segment of the EV market that relies entirely on public charging infrastructure.
The company recently launched its ‘Mega’ plan, which reduces public charging costs to 39p/kWh regardless of time of day. This pricing structure helps make ultra-rapid charging more predictable for drivers who depend on public networks.
The Corby hub will provide a key charging option for drivers traveling through Northamptonshire and those visiting the busy shopping centre.
