BMW has updated its electric iX SUV for 2025, bringing increased range, more power, and styling changes to its flagship EV.
The refreshed iX features a redesigned front end with wider headlights, smaller air intakes, and a narrower version of BMW’s signature kidney grille. Body-colored bumpers soften the SUV’s appearance compared to the 2021 launch model.
BMW’s illuminated ‘Iconic Glow’ grille remains optional on most trim levels but comes standard on the new range-topping iX M70 xDrive.
The M70 xDrive — replacing the outgoing M60 xDrive — starts at £113,300. It generates 650bhp from its twin-motor setup, paired with a 108.9kWh battery. The powertrain delivers 811lb ft of torque, enabling 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a 155mph top speed.
BMW has renamed its other iX models to reflect performance upgrades:
- xDrive 45 (formerly xDrive 40): £74,400, 402bhp, 374-mile range, 94.8kWh battery
- xDrive60 M Sport (formerly xDrive 50): £92,200, 426-mile range, 109.1kWh battery
Charging capabilities vary by model — the xDrive 45 supports up to 175kW, while the xDrive60 M Sport and M70 xDrive can charge at 195kW.
These improvements stem from new inverter technology that reduces energy loss between the battery and electric motors.
The M70 xDrive includes:
- Adaptive air suspension with ride level control
- M-specific suspension tuning
- Electronic shock absorbers
- Updated anti-roll bars
- Larger brakes
- Rear-wheel steering
Standard M Sport Pro package on the M70 adds sportier bumpers, gloss black exterior trim, M-spec sports seats, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel.
The xDrive 45 and xDrive60 M Sport include darkened headlights and 22-inch wheels. BMW offers seven new exterior colors and optional 23-inch wheels.
Inside, the iX retains its layout but receives BMW Operating System 8.5 software update.
Deliveries begin May 2025.
