BP Pulse became the first UK charging network to offer Avios points to electric vehicle drivers, according to the company’s announcement launching the partnership with IAG Loyalty.

The program launched June 17 across BP Pulse’s 3,000 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers nationwide.

British Airways Club members can earn four Avios points for every £1 spent when charging through the BP Pulse app or with a subscription. Drivers paying with debit or credit cards earn two points per £1 spent.

Avios serves as the reward currency for British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Qatar Airways, Finnair and Loganair. Members can also earn points through cruise companies, holiday firms and online retailers – then exchange them for flight discounts, car rentals and restaurant vouchers.

Registration Process

Club members must register their payment cards at avios.com or through the Avios app before charging.

Once registered, customers automatically collect two Avios per £1 on contactless transactions. The boosted rate of four Avios per £1 requires using the BP Pulse app or holding a subscription – plus having a registered payment card in the app wallet.

Both companies said the partnership aims to add value as more drivers transition to electric vehicles.

“As EV adoption continues to grow, this partnership adds further value to the charging experience – giving customers a simple way to collect Avios as part of their everyday journeys,”

said Valerio Ferro, general manager of BP Pulse UK.

Rob McDonald, chief commercial officer at IAG Loyalty, emphasized the program’s broader strategy.

“Our ambition is to make collecting Avios part of everyday life, and BP Pulse is a logical partner as more members transition to electric vehicles. By linking EV charging with Avios, we’re giving members another way to turn everyday activity into meaningful rewards.”

The partnership reflects growing integration between EV infrastructure and loyalty programs as charging becomes routine for millions of UK drivers.
