Toyota’s new Urban Cruiser electric SUV — the brand’s entry-level EV offering — will feature two battery options and up to 250 miles of range when it launches later this year.
The compact SUV, positioned below the BZ4X in Toyota’s electric lineup, will compete directly with the Skoda Elroq and Kia EV3 in the B-SUV segment.
The Urban Cruiser measures approximately 4.3m in length and adopts design elements from the BZ4X, including its slim lighting signature. The exterior features squared-off edges, black wheel arch cladding, and an upright stance reminiscent of the Land Cruiser.
Inside, Toyota has equipped the Urban Cruiser with dual screens — a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and 10.1-inch media display. Physical controls remain for climate and driving functions.
The rear seats offer 60/40 split-folding capability and slide to maximize either passenger space or cargo capacity, which reaches 306 litres. A 40/20/40 split rear seatback allows for longer items.
Performance and Charging
Toyota will offer two powertrain configurations:
- 49kWh battery with 142bhp motor
- 61kWh battery with 172bhp motor and 250-mile target range
Both versions support 11kW AC charging, while the 61kWh variant adds 150kW DC fast-charging capability.
The Urban Cruiser will be front-wheel drive only in the UK, based on buying patterns from the Yaris Cross hybrid.
