BYD has opened order books for its new Atto 2, with the compact SUV starting at £30,850. First deliveries are scheduled for September.
The 4.3-meter Atto 2 enters one of the most competitive segments in the EV market. It’ll face direct competition from the Kia EV3, Skoda Elroq, Volvo EX30, Suzuki E-Vitara and Fiat 600e.
Two Trim Levels Available
The entry-level Boost model features a 130kW front motor paired with a 51.1kWh battery pack. Range reaches up to 214 miles on a single charge.
DC fast charging tops out at 82kW, allowing drivers to charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The Comfort grade costs £34,950 and steps up to a 150kW motor with a larger 64.8kWh battery. This configuration delivers up to 261 miles of range.
Comfort models charge significantly faster at 155kW DC speeds. The 30-80% charging time drops to just 21 minutes.
Both versions hit 62mph from a standstill in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 99mph – performance figures that match most competitors in this class.
Standard Equipment
Every Atto 2 comes with BYD’s signature rotating 12.8-inch touchscreen as the centerpiece of the interior. The display can switch between landscape and portrait orientations.
Standard features across both trims include:
- Heat pump for efficient climate control
- Vehicle-to-load capability for powering external devices
- 17-inch alloy wheels
- Panoramic sunroof
- Heated front seats and steering wheel
- 360-degree camera system
- Wireless phone charging pad
Comfort models add driver’s lumbar support, tinted rear glass and electrically folding door mirrors.
The Atto 2 becomes BYD’s sixth electric model in the UK market. It sits above the recently launched Dolphin Surf and alongside the standard Dolphin hatchback in the Chinese manufacturer’s growing lineup.
BYD’s pricing strategy puts the Atto 2 directly against lower-spec versions of the EV3 and Elroq, while the Comfort grade competes with higher-trim E-Vitara models. The September delivery timeline gives BYD a head start over some competitors still finalizing their UK launches.
