BYD has revealed pricing details for its redesigned Atto 3 Evo family SUV, with UK sales beginning in early April.

The updated electric SUV starts at £38,990 – a £1,260 increase from the previous model’s £37,730 base price. BYD officials describe the pricing adjustment as modest given the vehicle’s extensive upgrades.

The most significant change involves a complete powertrain overhaul. The original 201bhp front-wheel-drive system has been replaced with rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive options built on 800V architecture.

Performance and Range Details

The entry-level single motor configuration delivers 309bhp and 280lb ft of torque through the rear wheels. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds.

The all-wheel-drive variant adds a front motor for a combined output of 443bhp and 413lb ft. This setup cuts the 0-62mph sprint to just 3.9 seconds.

Both versions use a larger 74.8kWh battery pack that provides 316 miles of range for the RWD model and 292 miles for the AWD version. The new 800V architecture supports 220kW charging speeds – double the previous generation’s capability.

This allows a 10-80% charge in 25 minutes at compatible rapid charging stations.

Structural Improvements

The Atto 3 Evo adopts cell-to-body construction, where battery cells are integrated directly into the vehicle structure. This approach improves rigidity for better ride quality and handling characteristics.

The design change also creates additional storage space. Boot capacity increases by 50 litres, while a new 95-litre frunk provides extra cargo room at the front.

Trim Levels and Equipment

BYD offers the Atto 3 Evo in two specification levels tied to the different powertrains.

Design spec at £38,990 comes exclusively with the single rear motor setup. Standard equipment includes:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Heat pump system
  • Vehicle-to-load capability
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Electrically adjustable heated front seats
  • 15.6-inch Google-based touchscreen
  • Wireless phone charging

Excellence grade starts at £42,730 and includes the all-wheel-drive powertrain. Additional features over Design spec include a head-up display, heated rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Orders for the updated Atto 3 Evo open on April 2. Deliveries will begin shortly after the order books open, according to BYD UK.
