BYD announced a ‘Back to School’ promotion offering £1,100 off, free service, and 0% APR financing across its electric and plug-in hybrid lineup.
The deal runs from August 15 through August 25. It’s designed to help families switch to electric before the new school year starts in September.
BYD’s entry-level option is the Dolphin Surf city car at £18,650. The Dolphin – BYD’s competitor to the Volkswagen ID.3 – starts at £30,205.
The mid-sized Atto 3 SUV begins at £37,705, while the executive Seal saloon starts at £45,705. BYD’s flagship Sealion 7 SUV tops the range at £47,000.
The promotion covers all new models plus approved used vehicles sold through BYD’s UK dealer network.
Steve Beattie, BYD UK sales and marketing director, highlighted September’s significance for families preparing for the new school year.
“It’s a great opportunity for a fresh start, and why shouldn’t that include a shiny, new electrified car? BYD prides itself on offering high-tech, high-quality and high-value cars; so if you want to look good at the school gates, one of ours is a sure-fire way of getting noticed, for all the right reasons, in the new term.”
All 82 BYD dealerships across the UK will honor the ‘Back to School’ deal. This marks the second special offer BYD has introduced within a week.
BYD Takes Different Approach to Chinese Rivals
Unlike other Chinese manufacturers, BYD hasn’t introduced its own Electric Car Grant program. Instead, the company announced five years of free maintenance across its EV range.
BYD also extended battery warranties to 155,000 miles – equivalent to eight years of typical driving – on selected models.
The Dolphin Surf, Dolphin, and Atto 3 already qualify for the extended warranty program. BYD hasn’t confirmed whether the Seal and Sealion 7 will receive the same coverage.
The Sealion 7’s 91.3kWh battery delivers up to 300 miles of range on a single charge. The Seal has won multiple awards since its 2023 UK launch.
