CATL unveiled its new Shenxing Pro battery for European markets, promising 10-minute charging speeds and durability up to 620,000 miles.
The Chinese battery supplier, which works with major automakers across Europe, developed two versions of the LFP battery pack. One prioritizes range and longevity – the other focuses on ultra-rapid charging capabilities.
Both variants include enhanced safety features designed to address consumer concerns about EV battery fires.
CATL engineered the Shenxing Pro specifically for Europe’s growing EV market. The company says it built the battery to meet demand for safer, more reliable power sources that charge faster and deliver greater range.
Range and Durability Specs
The long-range version uses a 122kWh battery pack that delivers up to 471 miles on a single charge.
CATL claims the battery will last one million kilometers – roughly 621,000 miles – before dropping to 70% of its original capacity. Most current EVs only guarantee 100,000 miles of battery life.
The company says degradation stays minimal in early years. After the first 200,000 kilometers (124,000 miles), the battery loses just 9% of its capacity. At typical UK driving patterns, that’s less than 0.5% capacity loss annually.
Fast-Charging Performance
The rapid-charging variant can add 297 miles of range in 10 minutes – equivalent to gaining half a mile of range every second.
This speed comes from 830kW DC charging capability. That’s twice the power of any commercial EV currently available in Europe.
Cold weather performance remains strong. Even at -20°C, the battery adds 254 miles of range in 20 minutes.
CATL backs the fast-charging version with a 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty.
Safety Technology
Both Shenxing Pro versions feature CATL’s updated NP 3.0 technology. The system includes chemical, structural, and software improvements that boost range, durability, and charging speed while enhancing cooling and safety.
The company says even if thermal runaway occurs in damaged batteries, there’s no risk of smoke or fire.

CATL hasn’t announced which automakers will use the new battery technology or when vehicles equipped with Shenxing Pro batteries will reach European dealerships.
