ChargePoint announced its new Flex Plus home charger that automatically handles reimbursements for fleet drivers charging work vehicles at home.

The company designed the Flex Plus to solve payment complications when employees charge company EVs at their residences. It’s the first charger built on ChargePoint’s new AC charging architecture.

The system delivers charging speeds up to 19.2kW – significantly faster than standard home chargers.

Smart Power Management

The Flex Plus includes real-time dynamic load management that automatically increases charging speeds when other home appliances aren’t drawing power. This eliminates the need for expensive electrical upgrades while still delivering fast charging.

Fleet managers can immediately reimburse employees through the charger’s built-in meter and software system. The platform also handles charger installation oversight and consolidated VAT invoicing for international operations.

A centralized dashboard lets fleet managers add new drivers and set charging rules. They can also monitor fleet-wide charging activity across all locations.

“Fleet managers and company car drivers require a seamless experience to fully embrace their electric vehicles,” said Hossein Kazemi, the chief technical officer for hardware at ChargePoint. “The new Flex Plus charger pairs with ChargePoint’s Driver Management Solution to automatically reimburse company car drivers for home charging, making it easy for drivers and fleet managers to go electric.”

Portable Design Features

The Flex Plus debuts a new backplate mounting system that allows owners to take the charger with them when moving homes. Traditional hardwired chargers typically stay with the property.

This addresses a common concern among employees who hesitate to install expensive charging equipment at rented properties or homes they might leave.

The system tackles what ChargePoint identifies as the biggest obstacle facing UK car fleets. Recent studies show charging infrastructure remains the largest barrier to electrification.

Key fleet concerns include:

  • 41% cite insufficient public charging points
  • 39% report lack of home charging options for employees
  • Limited workplace charging availability

The Flex Plus aims to remove the home charging barrier by making reimbursement automatic rather than requiring manual expense reports and approvals.

Fleet adoption of electric vehicles continues growing as companies pursue sustainability goals and prepare for upcoming ICE vehicle restrictions in city centers.
