Cupra has announced updates to its Tavascan SUV, introducing artificial sound effects that activate during spirited driving. The electric crossover now features synthetic audio that responds to throttle input and vehicle speed when drivers select Cupra or Performance modes.

The Spanish performance brand joins other automakers adding simulated engine sounds to electric vehicles – a growing trend aimed at enhancing the driving experience in silent EVs.

New exterior options include Century Bronze matte paint designed to complement the SUV’s coupe-style roofline.

Interior updates bring more customization choices. Cupra now offers a leather-free steering wheel option featuring three spokes and sports-focused design. Cabin materials include standard textile upholstery or the brand’s Dinamica dual-finish option.

Enhanced Performance Package

The optional Extreme Pack adds premium features for performance-oriented buyers. Heated and ventilated CUP bucket seats replace standard seating.

Outside upgrades include 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in 255mm performance tires front and rear.

Built on Volkswagen’s ID.5 platform, the Tavascan competes directly with the Ford Capri and Kia EV6 in the electric crossover segment. Pricing starts at £47,350 for the base V1 trim.

Mid-level variants cost more – the V2 starts at £53,845 while the VZ1 begins at £55,945. The range-topping VZ2 carries a £60,845 price tag.

All Tavascan models use the same 77kWh battery pack. Rear-wheel-drive versions achieve up to 353 miles of range between charging stops.

All-wheel-drive models sacrifice some efficiency for added traction. Maximum range drops to 324 miles with the dual-motor setup.

The Tavascan name follows Cupra’s tradition of using Spanish place names for its vehicles. The moniker comes from a village known for generating renewable energy from its lakes – fitting for an electric vehicle.
