DS No4 to Launch Electric Version in 2026, Rivaling Volkswagen ID.3
DS has announced its heavily updated No4 mid-sized hatchback will include a fully-electric powertrain for the first time when it debuts in Q1 2026, positioning it directly against the Volkswagen ID.3.
The French manufacturer’s new EV will feature a front-mounted motor producing 213bhp, paired with a 58.3kWh battery pack delivering a claimed 280 miles of range on the European WLTP cycle.
The DS No4 EV supports DC charging up to 120kW, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
Alongside the electric version, DS has updated the plug-in hybrid variant that competes with the equivalent VW Golf Mk.8.5.
The PHEV model now features a larger 14.6kWh battery pack providing up to 50 miles of electric range. It combines a 109bhp e-motor integrated into a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with a 176bhp turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, delivering a combined output of 222bhp.
An entry-level hybrid version rounds out the lineup with a 143bhp 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine paired with a small e-motor and six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. According to DS, this model can operate on 50% electric power in urban environments.
The powertrain choices affect cargo capacity differently. The hybrid offers 430 litres of bootspace, while the EV provides 390 litres, and the PHEV has 360 litres due to its battery placement.
The No4 receives styling and technology updates across all variants. The refreshed front end features new lights, grille, and bonnet designed to match the brand’s flagship DS No8, with a lightbar spanning the width of the nose.
At the rear, a darkened chrome strip connects the tail lights. The car comes standard with 19-inch wheels, while 20-inch wheels are available as an option – though the larger wheels will impact range.
Inside, DS has upgraded the No4 with a larger 10-inch driver display complementing the existing 10-inch touchscreen, plus an additional touchscreen on the centre console. Despite these tech updates, the cabin maintains its distinctive aesthetic.
