Alpine will reveal the first details of its electric A110 replacement during the first half of 2026, according to CEO Philippe Krief.

The French performance brand had previously announced plans to electrify the next generation of its sports coupe but hadn’t provided specific timelines until now.

Krief made the announcement in a video marking Alpine’s 70th anniversary.

“2025 was the 70th anniversary of Alpine. There will be a lot more to come in 2026,” Krief said. “We will present the new strategy for Alpine based on three pillars – where will will have ‘everyday extraordinary’ cars like A290 and A390. The pillar of ‘iconic car’ with the new A110 – and we will reveal some details in 2026.”

The company’s strategy centers on three main areas. The first focuses on mainstream electric vehicles like the A290 and A390. The second pillar involves what Alpine calls “iconic cars” – headlined by the electric A110.

Final Petrol Model Sets Direction

Alpine’s current approach draws inspiration from the A110 Ultime – the final lightweight edition of the petrol-powered A110 that’s currently in production.

Krief indicated the Ultime’s philosophy will carry over to the electric version.

“You see the evolution but you also see the DNA, the spirit of the car is still there,” he said, comparing the Ultime with the original 1960s A110. “And this is what we want to do with the next generation – evolve but keep the original DNA and spirit.”

The CEO expressed confidence in the upcoming model.

“The result is just fantastic and I can tell you that within the first six months of 2026 we will show some really exciting news about the A110 EV.”

Performance Targets and Competition

The electric A110 will compete directly with Porsche’s upcoming electric Cayman, which launches next year. It may also face competition from the Caterham Project V.

While Alpine hasn’t released official specifications, Krief provided performance hints earlier this year during the A390 reveal in Dieppe.

He told journalists the new car would feature a rear-mounted dual-motor setup producing more than 500 horsepower. The company also targets a curb weight under 1.5 tonnes with up to 373 miles of range.

Those specifications represent a challenging engineering balance – maintaining the lightweight character that defines the A110 while incorporating battery technology and dual motors.

The mention of rear-mounted dual motors has sparked speculation about potential platform sharing with Renault’s upcoming 5 Turbo 3E concept, which Alpine developed. That vehicle uses compact, lightweight motors that could suit the A110’s rear-engine layout.

Alpine continues developing its electric vehicle portfolio as parent company Stellantis pushes toward full electrification across its performance brands.
