According to Alpine, the French performance brand will debut its electric A110 test mule at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Formula 1 drivers Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto will take demonstration runs up the famous hill climb.

The third-generation A110 marks the first electric version of the two-door sports coupe.

Alpine claims it’s developing the world’s first “true EV sportscar” – one that matches the performance and handling of the current gas-powered model. The company says the electric version will deliver the same driving experience that made the A110 famous.

New Platform and Technology

The electric A110 sits on Alpine’s new all-aluminum platform called the Alpine Performance Platform. This same foundation will support convertible and 2+2 seating configurations down the road.

Engineers designed the platform specifically for sports car handling. The A110 EV maintains a 40:60 weight distribution using two separate battery packs positioned to keep the car’s low profile.

The 800-volt electrical system supports twin motors and ultra-fast charging capabilities. Alpine’s also introducing an integrated steering and braking system alongside active torque vectoring for better cornering.

It’s unclear how much the test mule’s appearance will reveal about the final production design.

Goodwood Showcase

The test mule headlines Alpine’s celebration of the A110’s heritage as the brand enters its electric era. The display will trace the model’s evolution from its 1960s rally car origins to today’s EV development.

Alpine will also show its current electric lineup – the A290 hot hatch and A390 performance SUV-coupe.

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed runs July 9-12 and features several EV debuts. The radical Renault 5 Turbo 3E makes its dynamic debut on the hill climb.

MG will reveal two new EV concepts, including an early look at the upcoming MG2. Denza will officially launch its UK operations at the event, showcasing the Z9 GT shooting brake, Bao 5 off-roader, and D9 MPV.
