Major automakers are gearing up for the Munich Motor Show’s biggest electric vehicle reveals in years. The event runs from September 9 to 14.

BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkswagen will unveil production-ready versions of their latest electric models. Other manufacturers are bringing a mix of production cars and concepts that preview their future EV strategies.

Audi e-tron Sports Concept

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner confirmed in July that the company will reveal a new electric sports car at IAA. He told Bild that the model represents Audi’s “TT Moment 2.0.”

The car will sit between the discontinued TT and R8 models in terms of size and positioning.

Details remain limited, but rumors suggest it could use the Mission R platform that’s set to underpin the new Porsche 718 EV.

BMW iX3

The new BMW iX3 represents one of Munich’s biggest reveals. This family SUV marks the first production model from BMW’s Neue Klasse EV lineup.

The design will likely tone down the Neue Klasse X concept’s styling. It’ll use 800V architecture that delivers major improvements in range, charging speeds and efficiency.

BMW promises big advances in technology and sustainability compared to the current iX3.

Cupra Raval

Cupra has already shared concept images of the Raval, but Munich will showcase the production version under camouflage. The B-segment hatchback closely relates to the VW ID.2.

It’s positioned as an electric successor to cars like the Seat Ibiza and VW Polo.

Expect Cupra’s sporty styling, 223bhp output and a premium price that sets it apart from Volkswagen’s version.

Cupra Showcar

Cupra’s Munich stand will also feature a new concept vehicle that isn’t destined for production.

The company says the Showcar will “embody the brand vision and its future design language” – representing what Cupra calls “the perfect symbiosis between human and machine.”

Hyundai Ioniq 2

The Ioniq 2 will expand Hyundai’s already impressive electric lineup. Like the related Kia EV2, it slots beneath the EV3 and Kona Electric but above the Inster.

It serves as an electric replacement for the Bayon crossover.

The model uses the same E-GMP platform and powertrain as the EV3. Pricing is expected around £25,000, putting it in competition with the Renault 4 and VW ID.2 X.

Leapmotor B05

The Chinese-European joint venture’s B05 targets the Volkswagen ID.3 and MG4 market segment.

Like Leapmotor’s T03 city car and C10 SUV, expect a focus on value with a starting price under £30,000 and generous equipment levels.

Leapmotor claims up to 400 miles of range, though that’s likely based on the more lenient Chinese test cycle.

Mercedes-Benz GLC

The new GLC will be one of Mercedes’ biggest stars at its home show. This premium family SUV promises a major technological leap over its predecessor.

An 800V platform delivers more power and range – close to 400 miles – plus charging speeds of at least 320kW.

It’s positioned as a direct rival to the BMW iX3.

Mercedes-AMG GT XX

Mercedes will also debut the AMG GT XX – the first ground-up AMG electric vehicle.

This four-door super saloon targets the Porsche Taycan with striking looks and impressive performance numbers.

Three axial flux motors produce 1,341bhp for 0-62mph acceleration in under 3 seconds and a 223mph top speed. A custom 114kWh battery promises substantial range and 850kW ultra-rapid charging.

Polestar 5

Munich will showcase the latest prototype of Polestar’s own Taycan rival. The sleek grand tourer was first previewed in 2023 and made its dynamic debut at Goodwood this year.

The Polestar 5 promises more than 880bhp from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.

As with previous Polestars, there’s a focus on innovative and sustainable materials throughout the interior.

Porsche Cayenne Electric

The next-generation Cayenne marks another step in Porsche’s electrification journey. While the current ICE model continues, next year’s all-new version will be fully electric.

Based on the same PPE platform as the Macan Electric, the Cayenne is expected to offer various dual-motor powertrains with up to 996bhp.

Expect ultra-fast charging capabilities and close to 400 miles of range.

Skoda Vision O

The “O” stands for Octavia. While Skoda hasn’t confirmed it explicitly, this concept will preview the next-generation family car.

Teaser images show a traditional estate body with Skoda’s Tech Deck front design.

The electric Octavia will likely use VW Group’s new SSP platform for improved range and efficiency over existing EVs. Launch is expected 18-24 months away.

Skoda Epiq

While the new Octavia won’t arrive until 2027, the Epiq launches in 2026. Munich will show the production version of this “urban SUV.”

Similar to the Hyundai Inster, it promises 200+ bhp and 250 miles of range for under £25,000.

Vauxhall/Opel Manta GSE

Opel will revive its GSe performance sub-brand with this new concept car. Teaser images suggest striking angular design with race-inspired touches.

Early press announcements referenced the legendary Manta 400, hinting at a possible two-door electric coupe.

The body style remains unclear from current previews.

Volkswagen ID.2

The ID.2 serves as Volkswagen’s electric Polo replacement, due in 2026 starting from £22,000.

While previewed by the ID.2all concept, Munich brings the production-ready version.

Built on the MEB Entry platform, it uses external styling similar to the current Polo. A front-mounted 223bhp motor pairs with either 38kWh or 56kWh batteries for up to 280 miles of range.

Volkswagen ID.2 X

The ID.2 X offers a more rugged alternative to the ID.2 hatchback. This compact urban crossover replaces the T-Cross in VW’s lineup.

It competes directly with the Renault 4 and Hyundai Ioniq 2.

The relationship mirrors that between the Renault 4 and Renault 5 – same powertrains and performance in a higher, boxier and more spacious package. Both ID.2 models reach dealers in late 2026.
