Evyve has cut charging prices across its UK network and launched the country’s first weekend tariff for electric vehicle drivers.
The operator runs more than 200 charging locations from Devon to Aberdeenshire. Its new weekend rate of 48p per kWh for app users makes it one of the cheapest rapid charging networks in the UK.
The weekend tariff runs from 5pm Friday through midnight Sunday, including bank holidays.
Drivers using the Evyve app pay 48p per kWh during weekend periods. Those paying by contactless card get a rate of 55p per kWh – still below most competitors’ standard pricing.
The pricing applies across Evyve’s entire network, including more than 100 ultra-rapid chargers delivering between 150kW and 300kW.
“We know that for many EV drivers, weekends are when they’re most likely to be topping up – whether that’s on a family day out, a road trip, or popping out for a bite to eat,” said James Moat, CEO of Evyve.
“We wanted to make sure that charging at an Evyve point is genuinely affordable when people need it most. At 48p per kWh for app users and 55p for contactless, our weekend rates are significantly cheaper than the standard tariffs at most major rapid networks.”
The company has also reduced weekday rates for app users to a flat 69p per kWh.
Industry Price Competition Heats Up
Evyve’s move follows similar pricing strategies from other charging networks. Instavolt extended its off-peak hours earlier this month, now offering 55p per kWh rates from 8pm to 7am – two hours longer than before.
The price cuts reflect growing competition in the UK’s public charging market as networks battle for market share among the country’s expanding EV driver base.
Weekend charging typically sees higher demand as drivers take longer trips or charge while shopping and dining out.
