Ferrari will unveil its first electric vehicle at the company’s Capital Markets Day on October 9, CEO Benedetto Vigna announced during the 2024 earnings call.
The EV will be one of six new models Ferrari launches this year, marking a historic shift for the Italian supercar manufacturer.
Test vehicles have already completed thousands of miles of development runs, using modified Maserati Levante bodies. This testing configuration suggests the EV could be an SUV, following the path of Ferrari’s Purosangue launched in 2022.
The new electric model will be built at Ferrari’s €200 million “E-building” facility in Maranello, Italy. This plant will produce drivetrain components — including motors and batteries — for both electric and hybrid vehicles.
Sources indicate the EV will carry a price tag of at least €500,000.
Ferrari’s commitment to electrification contrasts with its competitors’ recent moves. Aston Martin has delayed its first EV to 2030, while Lamborghini has pushed back plans for an all-electric supercar.
The upcoming model will be an entirely new addition to Ferrari’s lineup rather than replacing an existing internal combustion engine vehicle.
Vigna emphasized the importance of maintaining Ferrari’s driving characteristics: “It will be produced in the right way” to deliver an experience “worthy of the Prancing Horse badge.”
The company plans to follow this initial EV with a second all-electric model, though timing details haven’t been announced.
