Formula E welcomed 120 young women to the Madrid E-Prix through the FIA Girls on Track programme, providing direct access to the sport’s inner workings during Round 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The initiative offered participants a structured programme of workshops, career sessions and immersive paddock experiences. The goal – addressing motorsport’s gender imbalance while opening pathways into engineering, technology and racing careers.

FIA Girls on Track has expanded to every race market in Season 12, reflecting growing demand from young women seeking clearer routes into STEM professions.

Behind-the-Scenes Access

Participants received rarely-available public access through a Pit Lane Walk that brought them face-to-face with teams, cars and engineers operating at the sharp end of electric racing.

The programme included hands-on workshops, interactive gaming sessions and career talks delivered by industry professionals. These activities aimed to demystify motorsport and showcase the breadth of roles available beyond the driver’s seat.

The Madrid edition demonstrated Formula E’s commitment to sustainability and social impact – not only through environmental innovation, but by investing in future talent pipelines.

By combining education with real-world exposure, FIA Girls on Track serves as a bridge between aspiration and opportunity. This proves especially valuable for young women who may not otherwise consider motorsport as a viable career path.

Partnership Support

Support from partners including Hankook (presenting partner) and Autoliv (official partner) ensures the programme continues to scale in both reach and impact.

While the on-track action in Madrid delivered one of the standout races of the season, initiatives like FIA Girls on Track highlight the championship’s broader purpose.

The programme’s expansion across all Formula E markets signals the series’ recognition that diversity drives innovation – both in technology and talent development.
