Ford and Cork-based charging company Ohme announced a partnership that provides Irish customers with free home chargers through the new ‘Ford Power Promise’ program.
The collaboration addresses charging concerns identified in Ford’s survey of 5,000 European motorists. One in eight drivers said they found it difficult to arrange home charging.
Complete Charging Package
The Ford Power Promise covers wallbox costs and installation while providing dealer training for EV maintenance. Customer support runs Monday through Thursday from 9am to 6pm.
Ford’s research drove the decision to remove charging barriers for new EV buyers.
Northern Ireland customers can charge between 1am and 8am using Ohme’s 7.4kW chargers at 17.51p per kWh with dedicated off-peak tariffs. The Ford Puma Gen-E – with its 43kWh battery and 259-mile range – charges from empty to full for £7.53.
Republic of Ireland customers get even better rates.
Charging during Energia EV Smart Drive off-peak hours (2am-6am) costs just €5 for a complete Puma Gen-E charge.
Cork Connection
The partnership carries historical significance since Ohme operates from Cork. Ford maintained a major presence in Ireland’s second-largest city from 1917 to 1984 through its Cork plant, which manufactured cars and tractors for European markets.
Lisa Brankin, managing director for Ford Britain and Ireland, emphasized the program’s goals.
Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford has decided to simplify and de-stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric vehicle buyers.
She added that the Ohme partnership supports Ford’s commitment to attracting new buyers to EVs while boosting demand for their electric lineup.
David Watson, Ohme CEO, highlighted the collaboration’s local significance.
With Ford’s long-standing strong relationship across all of Ireland, this is a collaboration that’s close to home both personally and professionally.
Watson noted that Ford’s EV range – including the new Puma Gen-E, Capri, Mustang Mach-E, and Explorer, plus commercial vehicles – represents one of the market’s strongest electric lineups.
The Ford Power Promise applies to passenger vehicle retail and fleet orders through April 30, 2026. Commercial vehicle offers end March 31, 2026.
