Omoda & Jaecoo Names Gary Lan as UK CEO Amid Expansion Plans

Chinese automotive brands Omoda & Jaecoo appointed Gary Lan as UK chief executive officer to lead their rapid expansion plans.

The appointment comes as Jaecoo prepares for its UK launch and first Jaecoo 7 deliveries in January 2025, following Omoda’s September 2024 market entry.

Lan will oversee cross-country operations and brand expansion in what the company considers a key market.

“Omoda & Jaecoo enjoyed a successful debut into the UK in 2024, and has already started 2025 strongly with the launch of the Jaecoo 7, which has been positively received by the media and its first customers,” Lan said.

“My aim is to build on that success by continuing to roll out products from our new vehicle ranges, supporting our growing dealer network, and engaging with customers in both the fleet and retail sectors.”

Lan joins from Lincoln Motors China, where he served as vice president of sales and vice president of product marketing and brand management. His career includes director positions at Ford China, Jiangling Motor Company, and Mazda Taiwan, focusing on market strategy and brand development.

He will work with Victor Zhang, who remains as UK country director.

Parent company Chery’s UK operations have met their ZEV sales mandate target since market entry. The brands plan to launch five new models in 2025:

  • Omoda 9
  • Jaecoo 5
  • Omoda 7
  • Omoda 3

The company aims to expand from 71 to 130 UK dealerships by year-end 2025.
