Genesis GV70’s Vehicle-to-Load Feature Proves Valuable During Storm Outage
The Genesis Electrified GV70’s vehicle-to-load function demonstrated its practical value during recent power outages caused by Storm Eowyn.
The system — which includes a three-pin plug socket in the boot — allows household appliances to draw power directly from the car’s drive battery. This capability extends beyond the traditional 12V socket found in conventional vehicles.
This technology points toward future vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid applications. These systems could enable EVs to power homes during peak demand and potentially generate revenue by feeding electricity back to the power grid.
The GV70’s performance capabilities became more apparent after switching from Eco to Comfort mode. The transition revealed increased responsiveness without significantly impacting range — reducing total distance by approximately 20 miles per charge.
In Sport mode, the GV70 delivers 450bhp and features adaptive seat bolsters that automatically adjust to provide additional support during cornering.
The vehicle demonstrates its luxury credentials through:
- All-round acoustic glazing
- Road-scanning suspension
- Ergo-motion seats with automatic massage function
