Genesis has unveiled the GV60 Magma at its Battersea Power Station studio, marking the Korean luxury brand’s first dedicated high-performance electric vehicle. The spicy crossover will arrive in UK showrooms during the second half of 2026.
The display runs through early March at the Genesis Studio, giving potential buyers their first chance to see what Genesis director Ben Sargeant calls “the very best of Genesis.”
Power and Performance
The GV60 Magma packs a 641bhp all-wheel-drive powertrain that shares hardware with the award-winning Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The twin-motor setup delivers 650PS and 583lb ft of torque, launching the crossover from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds.
A bespoke launch control system helps achieve that acceleration time.
The Magma gets an enhanced boost mode accessed through a dedicated “Magma” button on the steering wheel. This unleashes the full 641bhp and 583lb ft for 15 seconds – five seconds longer than regular GV60 models.
Genesis has developed three new driving modes specifically for the Magma. Sprint mode delivers peak performance for track use, while GT mode maximizes comfort and efficiency. Drift mode loosens traction control and adjusts power balance to allow for controlled tail-out driving in safe environments.
Like the Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT, the GV60 Magma features Active Sound Design+ and Virtual Gearshift technology. These systems work together to simulate the sound and feel of a sequential transmission for a more engaging driving experience.
Chassis and Handling
The Magma sits 20mm lower than the standard GV60, with track width increased by 50mm for better stability. Genesis has fitted uprated suspension components with revised electronically controlled settings.
Heavy-duty monoblock brake calipers grip 400mm discs to handle the extra performance.
The visual changes include forged 21-inch alloy wheels and an aggressive front bumper with wings and vents designed to optimize airflow. Deep side skirts, a new rear bumper, and a bold rear wing complete the aerodynamic package.
That eye-catching Magma Orange paint scheme certainly makes a statement.
Interior Updates
Inside, Genesis has fitted dark aluminum trim and black suede bucket seats with orange or white contrast stitching. The steering wheel gets a retrim treatment to match the performance-focused aesthetic.
The car’s 27-inch panoramic digital displays feature bespoke Magma graphics that extend to the head-up display. These graphics adapt depending on which drive mode you’ve selected.
Genesis blends high-quality materials with a driver-focused approach throughout the cabin.
Orders for the GV60 Magma will open soon, with first UK deliveries expected this summer. While Genesis hasn’t announced pricing yet, expect it to start around £75,000 based on the current GV60 Performance’s price point.
The GV60 Magma represents the first in a planned line of high-performance models from Genesis, signaling the brand’s serious intent in the luxury performance EV space.
