Genesis has unveiled updates to its GV60 electric SUV that bring extended range, refreshed styling and new performance features designed to make driving feel more engaging.

The 2025 model year changes include virtual gear shifts and a hidden drift mode – features aimed at drivers who want more interaction with their EV.

Performance Features

The virtual gear shift technology comes from parent company Hyundai and works similarly to systems in the Ioniq 5 N and new Kia EV6 and EV9 GT models.

The system uses motor control to mimic a six-speed sequential gearbox. It includes a rev counter and limiter, letting drivers shift using the car’s brake regeneration paddles. Sound generation and tactile feedback make the experience feel surprisingly realistic.

Twin-motor models can now get an electronic limited slip differential.

There’s also a drift mode that’s accessed by pulling both brake regen paddles for three seconds. This loosens the traction systems to allow controlled oversteer on closed circuits.

Power and Range

The GV60’s motor setup stays the same. Two-wheel-drive versions use a 226bhp rear motor while all-wheel-drive models get twin motors producing 483bhp and 516lb ft of torque.

That’s enough for 0-62mph in just 4 seconds.

The big change is a new 84kWh battery that delivers up to 348 miles of range – 27 miles more than the previous version. Ultra-rapid charging still allows 10-80% charging in 18 minutes.

Genesis has upgraded the front brakes to four-piston calipers as standard. A new “Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0” uses live traffic and navigation data to automatically adjust braking force for better efficiency.

Design Updates

The exterior gets smoother bumpers and new 20- and 21-inch alloy wheel designs that help with aerodynamics.

Extended color coding on the wheelarches, bumper inserts and rear diffuser creates a cleaner appearance.

Inside, there’s a new 27-inch panoramic digital display shared with the updated GV70 SUV and G80 sedan. The software lets users stream content from services including Bloomberg, Disney+ and Netflix.

A new three-spoke steering wheel and more interior color options are also part of the update.

Options and Availability

Optional extras include a Dolby Atmos-equipped Bang & Olufsen sound system, a camera-based digital rear-view mirror and camera-assisted adaptive LED headlights.

Genesis hasn’t announced pricing for the updated GV60, but orders open on July 1.

Expect a small increase from the previous £54,000 starting price.
