Genesis has partnered with UK charging specialist Ohme to provide home charging solutions for customers buying the brand’s electric vehicles. The premium automaker will recommend Ohme’s Home Pro and ePod chargers through its dealer network.
Genesis customers purchasing a GV60, GV70 or Electrified G80 can now arrange charger purchase and installation directly through Genesis retailers. The streamlined referral program simplifies the home charging setup process.
Ohme’s chargers use real-time grid data to optimize charging times and costs.
The devices work with dynamic EV tariffs – pricing plans that fluctuate based on electricity demand and renewable energy availability. They also support traditional overnight charging packages.
When paired with dynamic tariffs like Intelligent Octopus Go, the chargers automatically schedule charging sessions during periods of cheapest and cleanest energy. This can significantly reduce both costs and environmental impact.
A full charge for the Genesis GV60’s 84kWh battery costs approximately £5.88 using an Ohme charger on a dynamic tariff – providing 348 miles of range.
The system also allows drivers to prioritize charging when renewable energy generation peaks on the national grid, further reducing CO2 emissions.
“Ohme’s strong customer service ethos aligns with Genesis’ Son Nim customer centric approach,” said Ashley Andrew, president and CEO of Genesis and Hyundai UK. “As a result, we’re delighted to partner with Ohme for the benefit of our customers and our retailer network.”
Genesis joins several major automakers in recommending Ohme’s charging solutions. The company’s existing partnerships include Volkswagen, Hyundai, Suzuki, Smart and Polestar, plus Motability Operations.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the Ohme benefits of easy charging and low running costs to Genesis customers,” said Peter McDonald, Ohme director. “With Genesis refreshing its line-up of electric models this year, customers not only have an updated product range to choose from but access to all that Ohme can bring to their ownership experience.”
The partnership comes as Genesis updates its electric vehicle lineup for 2024. The Korean luxury brand continues expanding its EV presence in the UK market through enhanced customer support services.
