InstaVolt announced the opening of a new charging hub at Greggs in Bicester, featuring eight ultra-rapid chargers with speeds up to 160kW. The site sits on the Oxford-to-Aylesbury corridor near Bicester Village outlet centre.

The new location includes two wider charging bays designed for improved access and larger vehicles. This expansion brings InstaVolt’s network to over 2,000 chargers across 750 sites nationwide.

“Bicester is perfectly positioned on the busy Oxford-to-Aylesbury route, making it an ideal location for drivers who need reliable, fast charging,” said InstaVolt CEO Delvin Lane.

“With eight 160kW bays and a Greggs on-site, drivers can grab a coffee, or a bite to eat while they charge and be back on the road before they know it. It’s exactly the kind of convenient destination that makes EV ownership effortless.”

Network Expansion Strategy

Earlier this year, InstaVolt opened what it calls a ‘landmark’ superhub in Winchester. That facility houses 44 160kW chargers and includes drive-through bays for larger vehicles and towing set-ups.

The Winchester site also features extra-long van bays and dedicated accessible charging spaces.

From late May through August 31, the company ran a ‘Summer Special’ pricing program. Charging costs dropped from the standard 87p per kilowatt hour to 50p/kWh during off-peak hours between 21:00 and 07:00 at selected locations.

All InstaVolt sites run on 100% renewable energy and operate around the clock. The network doesn’t require subscriptions and accepts multiple payment methods:

  • Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Charge cards
  • American Express

Future Growth Plans

InstaVolt targets 11,000 ultra-rapid chargers across the UK and Ireland by 2030.

The company already operates hubs in Iceland, Spain, and Portugal. In continental Europe, it plans to expand its network by over 5,000 additional sites.

The Bicester location represents part of InstaVolt’s strategy to position charging hubs along major travel corridors where drivers can access food and amenities during charging sessions.
