GWM UK has launched a £3,750 ‘Green Grant’ discount for retail customers purchasing its all-electric Ora 03 superminis. The move comes as uncertainty surrounds the UK Government’s recently-announced EV Grant and whether Chinese manufacturers will qualify.
The government’s new EV discount applies to vehicles costing under £37,000. Buyers can receive either £3,750 or £1,500 depending on how clean the energy grid is where the cars and batteries are manufactured.
There’s a catch though – manufacturers must sign up to the Science Based Targets Initiative to qualify.
Officials haven’t published which carmakers meet the criteria yet. Several Chinese brands including Leapmotor, MG, and now GWM are jumping ahead with their own discounts.
Pricing Breakdown
GWM’s discount brings the entry-level Ora 03 Pure down to £21,245. The Pure features a 48kWh battery with up to 193 miles of range.
Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera, and wireless phone charging.
Safety features come standard too – intelligent cruise control and a full suite of driver assistance systems.
The mid-range Ora 03 Pro drops from £28,995 to £25,245 with the discount. It packs a larger 63kWh battery delivering up to 260 miles of range.
Pro trim adds faux leather seats, auto parking, and a gesture-powered tailgate.
The top-spec Ora 03 GT sees its price cut from £32,995 to £29,295. While it shares the Pro’s battery and range, the GT adds a sportier body kit, launch control, heated and ventilated front seats, plus an electric sunroof.
Finance Options
Customers can apply the Green Grant toward a PCP deposit. GWM is also offering 0% finance deals.
