Humax announced a partnership with BYD to include a 7kW MX7 home charger with every new electric vehicle purchase through CG Auto Global dealerships across southern England.
The deal bundles the £999 charger and installation costs into customers’ Personal Contract Purchase financing plans. This creates a single-purchase solution for drivers switching from petrol to electric.
The Humax MX7 won a gold London Design Award and includes smart vehicle recognition technology to prevent unauthorized charging.
The charger qualifies for the UK Government’s OZEV grant program, which reduces upfront installation costs for home charging equipment. It’s also ready for Vehicle-to-Grid technology – allowing future two-way power flow between the car and home.
Solar integration lets homeowners use excess solar power to charge their vehicles, cutting electricity costs.
Smart Control Features
The MX7 connects to smartphones and tablets for remote operation. Users can set charging schedules, monitor real-time charging status, and control the Auto Solar Mode from anywhere.
Derek Yu, deputy director of CG Motors UK, said the partnership delivers a premium experience for BYD customers.
Our aim is to deliver a premium, no-fuss experience for our customers when they purchase a BYD car, whether that’s for personal or business use. This collaboration with Humax EV Charging allows us to fulfil this promise with an integrated package that enhances their vehicle ownership journey.
Jeff Kim, Humax president, emphasized how the deal simplifies the transition to electric driving.
This partnership with CG Auto Global makes the transition to electric driving simpler for BYD customers. By enabling drivers to include a home charger and installation within their vehicle purchase, we’re creating a true one-stop solution that removes advance costs and unnecessary complexity.
Kim added that home charging offers significant cost savings through off-peak electricity rates while avoiding the inconvenience of relying solely on public charging networks.
BYD’s UK Vehicle Range
BYD’s UK lineup includes both battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. The all-electric range features:
- Dolphin Surf city car
- Dolphin hatchback
- Atto 2 crossover
- Seal executive saloon
- Sealion 7 and Atto 3 Evo SUVs
The Chinese automaker became the world’s largest EV manufacturer in 2025 and outsold Tesla across European markets. BYD only entered Europe in late 2022, making its rapid market penetration particularly noteworthy.
The partnership reflects growing demand for integrated EV ownership solutions as more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles.
