Hyundai’s giving 2025 Ioniq 5 owners more choices for charging their EVs, extending a program that was initially just for the high-performance N variant.
Buyers now get to pick between a free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger or $400 in charging credits at ChargePoint’s public stations. The N version owners were originally offered $450 in credits, but the home charger option remains identical.
This isn’t Hyundai’s first foray into home charging solutions — they started offering similar perks to EV buyers in 2023. The installation comes through Hyundai Home, their one-stop shop for EV owners looking to set up home charging, solar panels, or energy storage systems.
There’s some fine print to consider. While Hyundai covers the basic hardwired installation, any additional costs, taxes, or fees are the owner’s responsibility. New Ioniq 5 owners who bought or leased after January 1, 2025, have two months to decide between the charger or credits. If they choose the home charger, there’s a four-month window to complete the installation. Those opting for public charging get a two-year window to use their credits.
The 2025 refresh brings significant updates across the Ioniq 5 lineup.
Larger battery packs push the estimated range to 318 miles — a notable improvement over the previous generation. The charging port now features a Tesla NACS connector, except in the N version, making it compatible with Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network.
For adventure seekers, Hyundai’s introduced an XRT trim with enhanced off-road capabilities. The exterior gets subtle design tweaks, keeping the distinctive pixel-inspired lighting signature that’s become an Ioniq trademark.
Most production is moving to Hyundai’s new Georgia facility — dubbed the “Metaplant” — though the track-focused N variant will still be assembled elsewhere. The N version has already impressed with its track capabilities, offering more than just the straight-line acceleration that’s become common in performance EVs.
