Hyundai unveiled its all-electric Insteroid concept at Peaches D8NE store in Seoul, South Korea – two days ahead of its scheduled debut at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show.
The surprise early reveal confirms design elements previously hinted at in teaser images released last week. The Insteroid features a Group B rally-inspired rear wing, flared wheel arches with 21-inch aero wheels, and a front spoiler reminiscent of Pikes Peak hillclimb vehicles.
Inside, Hyundai’s halo EV concept sports a minimalist cabin with bucket seats, roll cage, and a retro instrument cluster similar to 1980s rally cars.
All interior elements can be adjusted according to the concept’s user-centric philosophy: “build it, play it, break it, repeat.”
The Insteroid comes equipped with a Hyundai Beat House sound system and features a “Message Grid” system for driver-to-driver communication.
While Hyundai hasn’t disclosed battery specifications or powertrain details, the company confirmed the concept will include Drift Mode and a boost button – features shared with the Ioniq 5 N and upcoming Ioniq 6 N performance models. The vehicle will also incorporate a synthesized engine sound system.
To reduce weight, the concept utilizes lightweight lattice structures throughout its construction.
Interior materials consist of eco-friendly recycled yarns manufactured through a single-piece, made-to-measure process.
“The Insteroid is a celebration of pure fun,” said Simon Loasby, Hyundai design centre chief and VP. “It’s not just about how it looks, but also how it sounds and how makes you feel. From its bold visual language to the immersive sound experience, it’s a concept that invites everyone to dream a little louder and smile a little longer.”
