Hyundai has offered a first look at its Insteroid EV, a performance concept that transforms the all-electric Inster city car with video game-inspired design elements.
The Insteroid name combines “Inster” and “Steroid” – a fitting description for this dramatically modified vehicle.
Dominating the rear is a massive orange wing and oversized diffuser, complemented by Hyundai’s signature pixel light bar.
The front features a Pikes Peak-worthy air dam, while flared wheel arches house 21-inch aero wheels.
Hyundai will unveil the Insteroid at the Seoul Mobility Show in early April.
While technical specifications remain limited, several gaming-inspired elements are visible throughout the concept. The interior includes a hydraulic handbrake with a Mario Kart-style figurine attached, plus dedicated boost and track buttons.
A Pac-Man-inspired ghost graphic appears both inside and outside the vehicle.
Hyundai describes the Insteroid as a “thrilling ‘glitch’ in the automotive matrix, seamlessly merging the boundary-pushing aesthetics of video games with real-world engineering to create a vehicle that feels like it’s morphed straight out of a digital speedway.”
The Insteroid concept arrives as Hyundai continues expanding its performance lineup. The company plans to introduce the Ioniq 6 N in 2025, which has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring.
