Hyundai will unveil its largest electric vehicle ever at the Brussels Motor Show, according to company officials. The South Korean automaker hasn’t named the new model yet but confirmed it’s part of a broader push into electrification.

The announcement positions Hyundai to compete directly with Volkswagen’s ID Buzz and Kia’s upcoming PV5 Passenger in the electric people-mover segment.

Hyundai’s current biggest EV is the Ioniq 9 SUV. That vehicle measures 5.06 meters long, 1.98 meters wide, and 1.79 meters tall – already substantial by European standards.

Since the new model will be even larger, industry observers expect Hyundai to move beyond SUVs into the van-based segment.

Staria Connection Likely

The mystery vehicle could be an all-electric version of Hyundai’s Staria people carrier – or a standalone EV partner to it. The seven-seat Staria currently measures 5.25 meters long, 1.99 meters wide and 1.99 meters high, making it Hyundai’s biggest model overall.

That van is scheduled for a major update in 2026.

The timing works for adding electric powertrains to challenge the VW ID Buzz and Kia PV5 Passenger. Hyundai could also develop a standalone EV people-mover to sit alongside the hybrid Staria, similar to how the Ioniq 9 and Santa Fe operate as EV and gas equivalents in the seven-seat SUV market.

Company officials confirmed the new model will feature “state-of-the-art” EV technology and an 800V charging system like the Ioniq 9.

“The Brussels Motor Show continues to be an important platform for us to highlight how our electric products and technologies are evolving for European customers,” said Raf Van Nuffel, vice president of product at Hyundai Motor Europe.

Van Nuffel emphasized Europe’s transition to zero-emission mobility and Hyundai’s role as a mobility innovator in the region.

Updated Ioniq 6 Also Coming

Hyundai will also reveal its refreshed Ioniq 6 at Brussels alongside the supersized mystery EV. The display will showcase the company’s full electric range – from the massive Ioniq 9 down to the city-focused Inster.

Performance fans get special treatment with a dedicated N Zone featuring the 641-horsepower Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N.

The zone will also include an interactive arcade gaming area built around Hyundai’s radical Insteroid concept car.
