Instavolt has installed its 2,000th charger in the UK, doubling its network size in just two years as the company pushes toward an ambitious 11,000-charger target by 2030.

The charging network operator plans to have its 3,000th device operational within the next 12 months.

The milestone 2,000th charger forms part of a new six-charger hub at a Co-op convenience store in Blackfen, London Borough of Bexley. Located just off the A2 – a major route connecting East London with the M25 – the site reinforces Instavolt’s focus on supporting EV drivers in high-density residential areas.

Delvin Lane, CEO of Instavolt, said: “The installation of our 2,000th charger at Blackfen reflects our rapid growth and dedication to delivering critical EV infrastructure where it’s needed most.

“Whether it’s along commuter corridors, in tourist hotspots, or in urban neighbourhoods like this, our focus is on installing and operating world class, ultra-rapid chargers in great locations for the benefit of the UK’s 1.4 million – and growing – electric vehicle drivers.

“With 11,000 chargers planned by 2030, we’re making it easier than ever for drivers to make the switch to electric.”

Instavolt now owns and operates 13% of the UK’s rapid charging network, establishing itself as a major player in public charging infrastructure.

According to Zapmap data, the UK has surpassed 76,000 public EV chargers – a 29% increase year-over-year. While rapid charger numbers have grown by 11%, ultra-rapid chargers (150kW+) have seen a dramatic 66% increase, nearly matching the total number of rapid devices.

Charging hubs – sites with six or more rapid or ultra-rapid devices – continue showing the strongest growth. The first quarter of 2025 saw 49 new hubs installed nationwide, bringing the UK total to 586.
