Ionity has opened its largest UK charging hub featuring 25 ultra-rapid chargers at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Dartford, adjacent to the M25.
The new 350kW chargers run on 100% renewable energy from wind, solar, and hydroelectric sources.
This installation marks the first of six planned hubs at DoubleTree by Hilton locations across the UK. The remaining sites — Bristol, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newbury — will host a combined 104 ultra-rapid charging points.
The expansion supports Ionity’s goal to triple its UK network size by 2025.
“Partnering with Ionity is a huge step towards guaranteeing cutting-edge EV charging right across our DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio and opens up new revenue streams for us,” said Peter Stack, CEO of Klarent Hospitality, which operates the DoubleTree franchises.
Stack emphasized the importance of future-proofing their hotels: “It’s crucial for us to futureproof our hotels against both the evolving needs of travellers and hotel guests, and our short and long-term sustainability commitments; this agreement delivers both.”
Andreas Atkins, Ionity’s country manager for UK and Ireland, highlighted the UK’s progress in electric mobility adoption through 2024.
“Through partnerships like this that expand our ultra-rapid charging network, we can make long-distance EV travel more accessible, convenient, and reliable for all drivers—whether they are hotel guests, business travellers, or fleet operators,” Atkins said.
