Jeep will expand its European lineup with three all-new models over the next four years, according to company officials.
The American brand’s updated strategy centers on multi-energy platforms that support fully electric powertrains. The expansion includes two new small SUVs alongside a larger Chinese-built model and, in select markets, the rugged Recon.
However, Jeep appears to have dropped plans to bring the all-electric Recon to the UK. The brand also won’t launch the large luxury-focused Wagoneer S EV anywhere in Europe.
Six-Model European Strategy
Jeep boss Fabio Catone revealed plans for a six-model European lineup by 2030. He said it would deliver Jeep’s traditional values while meeting European drivers’ expectations.
The lineup will include refreshed versions of the existing Avenger and Compass.
Central to the strategy are two more B-segment SUVs built on the new STLA One platform. Both models are expected to be larger than the Avenger, which at 4.1m ranks among the smallest B-SUVs available.
Jeep internally refers to these as compact and large B-SUVs. They’ll sit closer to the Avenger and C-segment Compass in size, respectively.
The new models could see revival of the Renegade nameplate, which was retired in 2025.
Details remain limited, but the STLA One platform means the new models will accept pure-electric, plug-in hybrid and full hybrid powertrains. Catone said they’d continue offering Jeep’s traditional all-wheel-drive and off-road focus.
Chinese Partnership Expands
Above them, a new D-segment SUV is in development. This will be developed with Dongfeng and built in China.
Stellantis recently announced expansion of its Dongfeng partnership. The deal will see Dongfeng’s Voyah cars built in Stellantis’s European factories, while Jeep and Peugeot models will be built by Dongfeng in Wuhan.
Catone said the Dongfeng deal would allow ultra-rapid development and launch of the new model on a Dongfeng platform while remaining true to Jeep’s heritage.
“It will be fully designed by Jeep to meet its off-road requirements. It’s a global Jeep project that will be sold in China and other regions, including Europe.”
Recon and Wagoneer S Plans Scaled Back
While announcing the new strategy, Catone didn’t mention the all-electric Recon or Wagoneer S models.
The Recon is still expected to go on sale in some European markets – bringing the Jeep lineup to six models. However, it appears the 592bhp Wagoneer S has been dropped from European plans entirely.
Jeep confirmed that neither car would come to the UK. The brand told Auto Express that cost and complexity would make right-hand-drive conversions “untenable,” especially against low expected sales figures.
The strategy marks Jeep’s push to balance its rugged American heritage with European preferences for smaller, more efficient vehicles. The multi-energy platforms will let customers choose between electric, hybrid, and traditional powertrains across the expanded range.
