Jolt Secures Greenwich EV Charger Contract

Jolt signed a partnership with Greenwich council to install 30 ad-supported EV chargers across the borough over the next 15 years.

The charging network uses 75-inch digital screens to display advertisements and local information. Revenue from these screens subsidizes charging costs for drivers.

Up to two-thirds of homes in some London areas don’t have driveways. This leaves residents dependent on public charging networks.

Jolt offers 7kWh of free charging daily for customers. The company claims drivers can save up to £960 annually compared to standard public charging rates.

“The UK has a two-tier system for EV drivers, and it’s especially evident in London. If you can charge at home, going electric saves money. But if you’re relying on public charging – like millions of Londoners – you’re often paying a pavement premium,”

said John Rainford, UK country manager at Jolt.

Public charging typically costs more than domestic energy rates. Jolt’s ad-supported model aims to bridge this gap for drivers without home charging access.

“We’re providing South East London residents with the same opportunity as North London that makes running an EV accessible, whether you’ve got access to home charging or not. This isn’t just about charging cars, it’s about making London’s shift to clean transport fair for everyone,”

Rainford added.

The 15-year agreement represents Greenwich council’s push to expand charging infrastructure for residents lacking private parking spaces.
