KGM to Launch Electric Musso Pick-up in 2025

KGM — formerly SsangYong — announced its first electric pick-up truck will arrive in early 2025, with UK sales expected to follow.

The electric Musso marks the beginning of a unified pick-up family under the Musso nameplate.

Unlike its diesel counterpart, the Musso EV shares its platform with the Torres EVX SUV instead of using a traditional ladder-frame chassis.

The design, first shown as the KGM O100 concept at the 2023 Seoul Motor Show, features the Torres EVX’s front styling combined with classic pick-up proportions. Key elements include wheel arch cladding, a plastic roll hoop, and integrated side steps.

While KGM hasn’t released powertrain specifications, the truck is expected to offer both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations. The two-wheel-drive version likely shares the Torres EVX’s electric motor, producing 204bhp and 250lb ft of torque. All-wheel-drive models would require an additional motor for the rear axle.

The Torres EVX uses a 74kWh battery delivering 287 miles of range. Battery specifications and range figures for the Musso EV remain unconfirmed.

This launch could preempt the Maxus eTerron 9’s arrival as Europe’s first all-wheel-drive electric pick-up, while offering buyers an alternative to the Maxus T90EV.
