Kia has reached one million charge points across Europe through its Kia Charge service, marking a significant expansion in the company’s charging infrastructure network.

The milestone represents a major step forward for the automaker’s European EV strategy. Kia Charge operates as part of the company’s redesigned mobile app – bringing together Kia connect, MyKia, the Kia Warranty Book, and the Owner’s Manual into one platform.

Simplified Charging Experience

The service helps EV drivers find charging stations and plan routes with charging stops built in. Users can monitor their charging sessions in real-time and access both the bp pulse network and IONITY’s ultra-fast charging stations.

IONITY’s network delivers charging speeds up to 350kW.

Kia Charge includes a Plug&Charge feature that works like Tesla’s system. The company’s current EVs – EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9, and PV5 – automatically start charging when connected to compatible stations.

Drivers don’t need charge cards or separate apps once their vehicle connects to the MyKia app.

European Coverage and Pricing

Kia Charge currently operates in over 27 European countries. The UK hosts more than 55,000 of the network’s one million charge points.

The service offers two pricing options. The free ‘Easy’ tariff provides basic access, while the ‘Plus’ tariff gives users a 15% discount at charging stations outside bp pulse and IONITY networks.

Plus subscribers also avoid charging session fees at UK locations.

“Achieving one million charging points represents a significant milestone that underlines Kia’s commitment to providing our EV customers with a comprehensive ecosystem of public, residential, and depot charging solutions,” said Kia Europe president and CEO.

The executive added that the achievement “highlights our contribution to advancing e-mobility and facilitating the shift toward more sustainable transportation solutions.”

IONITY plans to expand its European ultra-rapid charging network to 5,000 charge points across 13,000 stations by the end of 2030.
