Kia will unveil its all-electric EV2 compact SUV at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026, the company confirmed this week.
The South Korean automaker first showed the EV2 concept at its annual EV day in February. The compact SUV targets rivals like the Renault R4 and Citroen e-C3 Aircross in Europe’s growing affordable electric vehicle segment.
Platform and Battery Options
Details about the EV2 remain limited, but Kia confirmed it’ll use the same E-GMP platform found in the larger EV3 and EV4 models.
Battery options will likely include a 55kWh NMC unit and a smaller 40kWh LFP pack – giving buyers choice between range and affordability.
The EV2 will be manufactured at Kia’s AutoLand factory in Žilina, Slovakia. It’s the second all-electric Kia built in Europe, following the EV4 hatchback that began European production earlier in 2025.
European Focus
Mark Hedrich, Kia Europe president and CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to accessible electric mobility.
“With the EV2, we reaffirm our commitment to make electric mobility truly accessible to a broader audience and without compromise,” Hedrich said.
The compact SUV delivers innovation from Kia’s larger EVs while fitting into everyday European life.
Unlike other Kia models, the EV2 won’t be sold in South Korea. Instead, it’s specifically designed for European tastes and driving dynamics.
“Designed, developed, and soon to be produced in Europe, we are confident that the EV2 will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of responsible mobility across the region,” Hedrich added.
Brussels Motor Show Details
The EV2 reveal happens from 10:40am to 11:00am (GMT +1) at Kia’s stand in Hall 5, Booth 3 at Brussels Expo.
Kia will also showcase performance GT versions of its EV3 compact crossover, EV4 hatchback, and mid-sized EV5 SUV at the show.
Press Day takes place January 9, with the Brussels Motor Show opening to the public January 10 and running through January 18.
The EV2’s debut comes as European automakers face increasing pressure to offer affordable electric vehicles that can compete with Chinese imports in the compact SUV segment.
