Kia unveiled high-performance GT versions of its EV3 and EV4 models at the Brussels Motor Show, marking the automaker’s expansion into performance compact EVs.

Both vehicles share the same powertrain setup – a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 288 horsepower. The front motor delivers 194 horsepower while the rear unit adds 94 horsepower.

The EV3 GT accelerates from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds.

The EV4 GT – available in both hatchback and fastback configurations – completes the same sprint in 5.7 seconds. That matches the acceleration of Volkswagen’s ID.3 GTX despite having 35 fewer horsepower.

Performance Features and Technology

Kia’s engineers reworked the chassis for both models and added electronically controlled suspension with GT-specific tuning. The vehicles include a dedicated GT driving mode alongside the standard settings.

Both cars feature Virtual Gearshift (VGS) technology borrowed from the larger EV6 GT and EV9 GT. The system simulates an eight-speed sequential transmission controlled through regenerative braking paddles on the steering wheel.

Active sound design works with the VGS to create synthesized engine sounds that respond to throttle input and pressure.

Design and Interior Updates

The GT models receive more aggressive body styling and 20-inch performance wheels with sport-focused tires. Interior upgrades include semi-bucket seats, neon green accents, and ambient lighting that changes with drive modes.

GT-specific interface graphics distinguish the performance variants from standard models.

Market Positioning

The EV3 GT will compete against the 276-horsepower Abarth 600e, Vauxhall Mokka GSE, and upcoming Skoda Elroq vRS in the compact performance crossover segment.

The EV4 GT targets buyers considering the Cupra Born VZ and Volkswagen ID.3 GTX in the hot hatch market.

Both models use the same 81.4kWh battery as their single-motor counterparts, though Kia hasn’t released range figures for the GT variants. The additional motors and weight will likely reduce the 375-388 mile range of the standard models.

Kia hasn’t announced pricing for either GT model. Industry analysts expect both vehicles to start around £45,000 when they arrive later this year – positioning them competitively against established rivals.

The EV3 GT and EV4 GT join Kia’s growing performance lineup that includes the 641-horsepower EV6 GT and recently launched 502-horsepower EV9 GT. The company also revealed the EV5 GT at the Brussels show, bringing all-wheel-drive performance to its mid-size SUV segment.
