Kia has fully revealed its new EV4, confirming the electric vehicle will be available in both saloon and hatchback body styles with a class-leading range of up to 391 miles.
The EV4, which will compete directly with the Volkswagen ID.3 and Renault Megane E-Tech, shares its powertrain with the recently launched EV3 SUV while introducing new entertainment features.
Both EV4 variants come equipped with a front-mounted 201bhp motor and offer a choice between 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh battery packs.
The sleeker saloon delivers 267 miles of range with the smaller battery and 391 miles with the larger option. Its hatchback counterpart offers slightly reduced figures of 255 and 367 miles respectively.
These numbers put the EV4 ahead of its main competitors. The VW ID.3 provides between 240 and 345 miles depending on battery specification, while the Renault Megane E-Tech manages 285 miles from its 60kWh unit.
Unlike Kia’s premium EV6 and EV9 models which feature 800V architecture, the EV4 uses a 400V system. This limits charging speeds to 107kW for the smaller battery and 127kW for the larger version — still enabling a 10-80% charge in 31 minutes for both variants.
The EV4 includes vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing it to power external devices, and adds vehicle-to-grid capability that can return electricity to homes or the power grid.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the EV4 follows a similar layout to the EV3, featuring a prominent 30-inch three-screen digital display mounted above the dashboard. The open center console design continues, though the EV4 introduces an asymmetrical steering wheel and new color and upholstery options.
Kia emphasizes passenger space as a priority for the EV4. The saloon offers a class-leading 490-liter boot, while the hatchback provides 435 liters of cargo capacity.
The EV4 brings technology previously reserved for Kia’s more expensive models, including a digital key system compatible with smartphones and smartwatches, plus highway driving assist 2.0.
A standout feature is the new Vehicle Smart TV system, providing built-in access to streaming services including YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+, along with games and karaoke to entertain passengers during charging stops.
The car also offers a Theatre Mode that optimizes screens, seating positions and ambient lighting for a more immersive viewing experience.
For those seeking relaxation, a dedicated Rest Mode utilizes the front relaxation seats and mood lighting to create a calming environment.
Pricing and Availability
Kia positions the EV4 as a “core model” intended to appeal to a broader audience than the larger EV6. While official pricing hasn’t been announced, the EV4 is expected to start between £35,000-£37,000 based on the EV6’s £45,000 starting price and the EV3’s £32,000 entry point.
This pricing would place it directly against the Megane E-Tech and ID.3 in the competitive electric hatchback segment.
Production of the saloon will begin in South Korea in the coming weeks, with the hatchback following in mid-2025 at Kia’s Slovakian plant. Both versions are expected to reach European markets in the second half of 2025.
Full UK specifications and pricing details will be announced closer to launch.
